Hey all, reading through all my posts i really feel that its kinda boring. Therefore, i have decided to blog on things I'm better in or rather things that would be beneficial to others upon reading as well. First of all i have to disclaim that this is just amateurish posts alright?
Alright, had a mini steamboat dinner over at Fadd's place. I met him at about close to 5 at 888 plaza and did some grocery shopping. Then after, proceed to prepare the food.
In a steamboat meal, what i feel that is mostly unhealthy is when people boils the broth using large amount of chicken stock. I understand if people dont know how to prepare broth thats why they resorted to using chicken stock. But they should try to learn the the proper way of preapring broth, for steamboat broth is really important, as it adds flavour to the food you throw into the pot.
In this post, I will try to teach how to prapare for a steamboat feast!
Broth Preparation
Ingredients needed:
Water
Corn
Carrots
Dried Squids / Ikan Bilis
Chicken Bones
Long White Cabbage
Soya Beans
First of all, fill the pot with desired amount of Water. Next, prepare the ingreidents by soaking the Dried Squid or Ikan Bilis and the Soya Beans in separate bowls of water. Then after, cut the Corns, Carrots and Chicken Bones into smaller pieces. By now, you should be boiling the pot of water and when water is boiling with popping bubbles, throw in the prepared ingredients and leave it to boil with small-medium fire.

Crabs
Well, for Fish Balls, Hot Dog, Salmon, Crab Sticks, Cauliflower, Asparagus, Spinach and Squid, you just need to slice it into smaller pieces like how you would usually prepare it. Where as for the Chicken Fillet and Wanton Skin you would have to prepare it for yourself, it wouldnt form into wanton dumplings on its own definately. And for the Crab, it was cooked as chili crab. I will do a demo for that next time...
For the Chicken Thighs, its good if you can marinate it to give it the extra kick of taste when cooked. To marinate it, theres alot of ways to do so. But for that night, shallot oil with some shallots, pepper, a little light soy sauce, and cornflour. Rememeber to mix it well, so as to let the meat be well marinated and eat the sauces.
So, for the Wanton Dumplings.
For the minced meat, you can marinate it with light soy sauce, pepper, sesame oil and also chopped spring onions (optional), chopped water chestnut (optional).
